The Bill actor raises funds for JCD
AN EVENING with actor Rene Zagger, organised by Ilford Federation Synagogue, raised £120 for JCD.
Zagger, whose family are members of the community, is probably best known for playing PC Nick Klein in The Bill and for his role as the spy Mordechai Vanunu in Channel 4’s Nuclear Secrets: Vanunu and the Bomb.
Zagger spoke about his experiences as an actor, starting at the Italia Conti School, the problems of auditioning and the difficulty of crossing over from TV to film. The evening concluded with a dessert buffet.
Rabbi Alex Chapper, the synagogue’s minister, said: “It was wonderful to be able to hear Rene, not only is he intelligent and articulate but he clearly is a proud Jew – he was an inspiration to all present and we hope to do some work with him and the young people in the Redbridge community.”
