Jewish Child's Day. Helping to make a Jewish child's day

JCD awards £85,000 to children's agencies

JCD handed out £85,000 to children’s agencies here in the UK, in Israel and in Eastern Europe at its latest allocation meeting.
The biggest sum - £6,000 – went to Bikur Cholim Hospital to help purchase paediatric beds, while £5,000 went to Delamere Forest School in Cheshire to go towards its expansion programme.
The charity, formerly known as Jewish Child’s Day, also gave £5,000 – the final instalment of a five-year £25,000 commitment – to Gan Hayeled kindergarten in Haifa. The money is used for the children’s pet corner.
JCD also allocated £5,000 to complete the funding for summer camps for 28 needy children in the Ukraine
Other recipients included Simon Marks Jewish Primary School in Stoke Newington (£3,000) to help fund extra-curricular activities for children from low-income families, Aguda in Manchester (£2,500) for three summer holiday coach trips and Cosgrove Care in Glasgow (£2,000) towards its ‘Taken for Granted’ project which provides facilities for learning disabled children during the holiday period.
JCD’s executive director Daniel Burger said: “I am delighted that we have handed over so much money here in the UK as well continuing our support for Israel. Additionally, we have been able to send money for a very worthwhile cause in the Ukraine, showing our continued commitment to children in Eastern Europe.”
