JCD Liverpool group hands over £7,250
JCD’s Liverpool committee has just handed over a cheque for £7,250 to the charity.
The committee, which has been in existence almost since JCD’s inception, is under the chairmanship of Vera Steinberg, raised the money from door-to-door collections, raffles and schools, including a £1,000 contribution from King David Primary School. Childwall Synagogue raised £1,700.
Mrs Steinberg said: “We have raised funds for JCD for as long as I can remember and are still going strong – thanks, in the main, to the generosity of the Liverpool Jewish community who continue to give so generously.”
JCD executive director Daniel Burger said: “This committee has been existence for almost as long as JCD has been functioning and at a time when there is so much competition among charities it is a magnificent effort – well up on last year’s figure. It shows that the provinces are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to raising money for charity despite declining community numbers.”
