Jewish Child's Day. Helping to make a Jewish child's day

JCD awards £76,000 to children's agencies

JCD announced funding of £76,000 from its latest allocation's meeting held in March.

The largest allocation of £10,000 went to Beit Issie Shapiro in Raanana, Israel to fund for the next two years its new integration programme for children with developmental difficulties.

JCD has already awarded £17,000 to the same facility for a speech and language therapy room in its new state of the art facility due to be officially opened in May.

Other new projects which have been helped include the Schechter Institute for Jewish Studies in Jerusalem to fund its highly successful summer camp in the Ukraine and a new application from the Jewish community in Budapest, where the money will go towards providing food parcels for the most needy children of the community.

In the UK, £3,600 was awarded to Zichron Menachem, an organisation that brings Israeli children suffering from cancer to the UK for a summer break, while providing much needed support for their families.

JCD executive director Daniel Burger, speaking after the meeting, said: “More and more new children's agencies are being set up and are calling on our help as they learn about our work and more and more of the existing agencies continue to seek our support."
