JCD appoints new board members and trustees
Arieh Handler, one of the founders of JCD, was appointed life president at the organisation’s annual general meeting. Mr Handler, who lives in Jerusalem, joins the other life president June Jacobs.
JCD also appointed two new members to its national council – Rabbi Jeremy Gordon, of St Albans Masorti Synagogue, who will be the honorary patron of the Masorti movement and Dr Simon Nadel, consultant in paediatric intensive care at St Mary’s Hospital in London.
JCD executive director Daniel Burger, welcoming the new members, said: “We are delighted that Rabbi Gordon and Dr Nadel are joining our national council.
“Rabbi Gordon’s appointment shows that all strands of Jewish religious life – Orthodox, the Spanish and Portuguese community, Masorti, Liberal and Reform – are represented on the JCD board, while in Dr Nadel we now have someone whose expertise will enable us to qualify the many grant applications we receive from hospitals and medical organisations.”
Three new council trustees - Frankie Epstein, Susie Olins and Gaby Lazarus - were also appointed at the meeting.
