JCD reports a record year for donations

"A record year for donations" with income totalling £948,000 over the past 12 months, an increase of 18 per cent, was reported by JCD honorary treasurer Stephen Moss at the organisation’s allocations meeting.

This level of donations enabled JCD to grant awards totalling £120,000 to 43 different children’s agencies in the UK, Israel, Eastern Europe and India over the last four-month period, which dealt with applications received since June.

There were four allocations, adding up to £10,000, to agencies in the Ukraine. These were all new allocations which followed the visit to the country earlier this year by JCD executive director Daniel Burger and £1,000 was handed over to the Evelyn Peters Jewish Community Centre in Mumbai, India.

In the UK, the sum of £3,000 was given to the S Pinter Youth Project in Stamford Hill which provides after school clubs and holidays for 400 disadvantaged girls aged between four and eleven.

Israeli children’s agencies also benefited from JCD grants with £5,000 going to Eliya in Be’er Sheva to provide hydrotherapy and therapeutic riding equipment for visually impaired and blind children and £4,500 to help in the purchase of vital equipment for the Kfar Hayarok youth village.
