The Big Birthday Appeal is the fun, new way to encourage children to give charity on a regular basis and involve them in helping children in need.
The aims of the Appeal are to:
- raise money for children's charities
- teach children to give charity regularly
- encourage them to consider children who are in need
- teach them to not take everything for granted
- allow them to understand the value of money

Swishing for Kids event raises £600
We held a fantastic 'Titch 'n Switch' event at the home of Judith Moryoussef. This was a swishing event for kidswear where everyone could get their hands on fantastic quality clothes for babies and children, plus accessories - all for just a £10 ticket fee. There was a great atmosphere and everyone went home very happy with their gorgeous new clothes. An easy, useful and fun way to raise £600 for Big Birthday!
Competition to design new birthday sticker
Big Birthday held a nationwide competition to offer children up to the age of 12 the opportunity to create a new design for our all-new gift sticker. The winning design has now been chosen (with the help of a local artist) and the winner will be surprised mid-July at their school assembly with a formal presentation from Big Birthday and a fantastic Nintendo DS. Look out for the funky new stickers featuring the new design. We've printed these digitally 12 to a sheet which means we're able to offer them at a specially discounted rate of £3.00 for 12. Brilliant value!
And introducing our new all-purpose gift sticker...
We've taken on board feedback about our first gift sticker and have changed 'best wishes' to a more relaxed 'just to say...'. We've also introduced more colour so it looks a lot funkier. We have just introduced these in Manchester and feedback has been really positive. They're perfect for sticking on a present if you're invited out for dinner -- and for just about any occasion! These are also digitally printed 12 to a sheet so are again available at £3 for a 12.
Selfridges stocks Big Birthday Wrapping paper
We're absolutely delighted to report that charity wrapping paper from the Big Birthday Appeal is being stocked at Selfridges in the Trafford Centre as part of the store's 10th anniversary celebrations. Selfridges' buying team approached Big Birthday about stocking the paper after being impressed by the charity's ethos of using birthdays to raise funds for less fortunate children.
Big Birthday mum Emily Samuels said: "The store wanted to mark its 10th anniversary by supporting a charity, and managers there loved what Big Birthday stands for. We were absolutely thrilled to hear that a retailer as prestigious and discerning as Selfridges wanted to stock our wrapping paper. We always knew it was fantastic quality but never expected to see it on the shelves in Selfridges!"
Birthday party for 3-year-old raises £80
A birthday party for 3-year-old Ariella Glaskie raised £80 for Big Birthday by asking guests not to buy a present but instead to give a small donation to the charity, which everyone was delighted to do. We designed a special invite for this with a very cute poem on. If anyone would like the artwork for this, just ask!
